Finding small ways to clean up around the house everyday really takes the dread out of cleaning. No one wants to spend all scrubbing the toilet when you could be put at a spin class or taking painting lessons. When you’re constantly on the go, you have to find cheap, out-of-the-box ways to keep your home fresh and clean.
There are tons of objects in your home that you can use to clean your home with. Most of these objects are right in front of you, and they’re extremely cheap. Make things easier on yourself by taking a look at these cheap and clever cleaning hacks that include everyday items.
Coca Cola
You can have a coke and a smile and stain – free toilet bowl with one can of this classic soda pop. The acidity of coke dissolves toilet rings. Start by pouring an entire can into the toilet bowl and let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour. This will give the acids time to break down the stains. Take a toilet brush and scrub at any remaining stains and flush.
Socks
Whenever I lose a sock, I don’t throw away the other one. I take it and use it as a reusable Swiffer pad. Here’s how: take a sock and place it over the end of the swiffer. Use your swiffer like to dust and mop the floors of your home.
Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a household staple. It’s non-toxic and effective at killing mold, bacteria, and viruses. You can use hydrogen peroxide to kill germs on your countertops by pouring some hydrogen peroxide onto a cloth and wiping the countertops with the cloth.
Lint Roller
Living with pet means dealing with pet hair. On the couch, on the beds; pet hair can be a pain to remove by hand. The next time you see pet hair laying around, use a lint roller to pick it up. The pet hair will catch on to the sticky adhesive on the lint roller.
Kool Aid Mix
With one packet of lemon kool aid mix, you can clean the inside of your toilet bowl. Do this: Pour the packet of powder mix around the toilet bowl. Let the power sit for a few minutes to dissolve tough stains. Take your toilet scrub and scrub the bowl until it’s clean and flush.
Lemons
Since we’re still on the topic of lemons, let’s discuss ways to clean your home with lemons. The acid in lemons act as a natural disinfectant by killing germs and bacteria. You can clean your cutting board with lemon juice and salt. Plus, you can you can create a DIY non toxic version of bleach by combining lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide, and water into spray bottle.
Baking soda
What’s the smell? Whatever it is, Baking soda is amazing at get rid of bad odors. If you’re trash can is emitting a weird smell, place baking soda in the bottom of your trash can to absorb the bad odor. You can also unclog a sink drain with baking soda, vinegar, and water. Try this: Pour hot water down the drain. Pour half a cup of baking soda into the drain and let it sit. Then, pour a cup of vinegar into the drain on top of the baking soda and close the drain with a plug. After 5 minutes, pour hot water into the drain to wash the baking soda and vinegar down.
Toothbrush
Grout can accumulate in some of the smallest cracks and creases. When you can’t seem to get to the grime that stuck in between the floor tiles or shower tiles, just a toothbrush to scrub away the dirt!
